The Magnus Archives

I think The Magnus Archives is very cool is very cool.

I started listening to TMA in October of 2022, and listened to episodes semi-daily until I finished the seiries. After that, I continued to be interested in it for a few months, although that was before I made this website.

Jonathan Sims

As many main characters in horror podcasts do, Jon initially has no idea what in the world is going on. He goes about his job of archiving the Magnus Institute's unorganized files with an almost stuborn disregard for their supernatural nature. Only when his workplace gets overwhelmed by thousands of worms does Jon even begin to believe in the supernatural.

Get ready, though, because this man did not start coming to his senses just because of a little worm attack. Jon finds out that the previous archivist was murdered, and in response, he has the abolutely brilliant idea of stalking his coworkers to figure out who did it. Fortunately, in the area of 'beliveing in the supernatural things that are happening right in front of you', Jon is doing better. Jon destroy the table that binds the Not!them, which logically would destroy the thing trapped inside it. As it turns out, destroying the table actually released the Not!them, which proceeded to chase down the archival staff. John ends up in the tunnels under the intitute, where (idiot motherfucking) jurgen litner teaches him about the fear entities.

After being famed by Elias for the murder of jurgen lietner, Jon is stuck living with Georgie. He still records statements, which are being mailed to him. Jon tries to learn more about the Fear Entities by visiting various avatars of them. Once he leans more about the Fear Entities, he starts trying to fight against them. The Entities, however have other plans. Though they succeed, Jon ends up in a coma.

Jon wakes up from his coma six months later, having fully become an avatar ofthe Eye. He esentially starts doing a bunch of side quests at the Archives: getting part of his ribcage stolen, freeing Daisy from the Coffin, extinguishing the Dark Sun, and figuring out how to leave the Institute. Jon finds out that Martin has become part of the Lonely, and he attempts to rescue him. He and Martin end up fleeing to the countryside; they live there for a few weeks before Elias gets Jon to start the apocalypse.

Jon and Martin are now left to wander through the apocalyptic hellscape that the world has become. They search for a way to turn things back to normal, going through the various Fear Domains. Eventualy they do make a plan with Georgie and Melanie, which could fix things. Jon, however, does not fully follow through with the plan and ends up getting stabbed by Martin. Both are left to an indeterminate fate.

Sasha James

Sasha originally worked in artifact storage and gave follow-up information on a few cases. In season two, unknown to the rest of the archive staff, she was replaced by the Not!Them.
